Moritz Bak established the organic winery, Res Fortes in 2018 in Maury, a part of Roussillon known principally for sweet, fortified Vin Doux Naturel. Bone dry, Res Fortes wines are very much part of the new wave of wine making happening in this region of Southwestern France that faces the Mediterranean, bordered by the Corbières and Pyrenees Mountains.
The 2019 GMS, is a big Mediterranean wine that is suprisingly light on it’s feat, with red fruit from the Grenache melting into dark cherry and black fruit from the Mourvèdre and Syrah. A bit of warmth in the glass in anticipation of cooler autumn weather, the Res Fortes GMS will pair well with the last grilled red meat with ratatouille.
