The Australians might have GSM, but the Southern Spanish have MGS: Monastrelle (aka Mourvèrdre), Granacha (Grenche) and Syrah. At least they do in this delicious aggressively priced juicy red from Nathalie Bonhomme’s wine making company, Les Vins Bonhomme. I wrote about Bonhomme and this wine recently at The Hub:
Nathalie Bonhomme is a Montrealer who found herself in Spain working as an exporter and marketer to some of the country’s most renowned winemakers, pioneers themselves, twenty years ago. She’s used that experience to make her own line of wines, sourced across Spain, which she exports back to Canada and the rest of the wine-drinking world.
Madame Bonhomme has given her native country a recession busting wine just in time. Lively for an old vine Mediterranean red, look for red cherry fruit notes over blackberries and a scrubby herbal character. Easy drinking and great value for the price.
