The Hidden Bench Nocturn rosé is made by the old fashioned saignée method, where juice is ‘bled’ of of red wine fermenting tanks, concentrating whats left behind and producing a fine light pink wine. Served chilled, the Nocturn is full of juicy red fruit, with cherry and cranberry notes. This wine bucks the trend for very pale rosé that drinks more like a white a wine and is closer in spirit to the original French rosé from Tavel. The Nocturn is a barbecue friendly food wine with enough structure to take on grilled meats and vegetables and a racy acidity that quenches thirst and offers relief for warm summer evenings. The French might call the Nocturn a ‘glou glou’ wine. That translates as ‘glug glug’, which is exactly apt to happen before pouring another glass.
