Look for this lovely, and surprisingly elegant wine, which came out in the October 30 LCBO Vintages release. It’s a super food friendly wine, light on its feet and bright with Grenache red cherry notes. Made from 35 year old vines on clay and limestone soils belies its price point and provenance. Try it now before it jumps to $25 or $30 a bottle. The winery was begun to friends from the Loire who ended up running a successful restaurant in Montreal before returning to France to start Le Loup Blanc and make wine organically. Maybe restaurateurs have an instinct for making crowd pleasing wines that retain a certain sophistication. In any event this is worth trying with roast chicken or grilled vegetables.
