I don’t make it a habit of repeating tasting notes from wine producers, since I am trying to sell my added value. But in the case of Flat Rock’s 2024 Good Kharma Chardonnay, which raises funds for Feed Ontario, the province’s association of food banks, I don’t see how I could put it better:

Thanksgiving 2025 marks the 13th year that the Good Kharma Chardonnay has been released at Flat Rock Cellars and the LCBO. Sales of this wine have resulted in the donation of 200,000 meals to Ontarians in need, 1 in 3 of whom is a child. The wine is bright and fresh, with apple, peach, grapefruit, and racy minerality. Perfect for Thanksgiving or holiday dinners.

This is a straight forward, no nonsense Niagara Chardonnay. If it’s seen any oak, I can’t tell; I suspect stainless steel because it’s as crisp as a sunny fall day. It may have spent some time on lees, though, because there’s good depth and weight on the palate. It’s well made and sold at an approachable price. What’s more is that it does a bit of good. What more could you ask?

*12.5% abv is declared on the label, but as of posting, the LCBO website says “13.4%”. I am inclined to think the LCBO information is about an old vintage that hasn’t been updated. The wine is just about in perfect balance in any event, so it could really be either.
