This widely distributed rosé from the mouth of the Rhône River has been a summer stable in my house for many years because it’s a proper rosé in two respects. First, it’s made in the traditional saignée (bleeding) method. This is when some of the juice that is macerating in the grape skins that give wine colour is bled off to concentrate and intensify serious red wine. The bleed off is not wasted, but made into a rose made to be drunk young.

I doubt the winemakers at Bressades need to bleed off their red wines anymore, but I like that they’s kept to tradition and I like that the rosé they make is properly pink and closer to a light version of a Grenache and Syrah fueled Sourthern Rhône wine than the on-trend very light Provençal style that often taste to me more like white wine.

The Grenache in the Mas des Bressades rosé brings cherry, and a deep red fruit flavour that dominates. This wine was made for a summer lunch or a light dinner on the grill. It will pair with just about anything.
